Ms. Sijstermans

Subjects: AP Environmental Science, AVID


Ms. Sijstermans grew up in the Netherlands and Mountain View, California.  She graduated from Stanford University with a degree in Secondary Science Education.  She has been teaching at Wallenberg for 5 years.  She coaches the girl's flag football team.  


Ms. Sijstermans enjoys surfing, running, and playing with her dog in her spare time.

Ms. Tanaka

Subjects: Biotechnology I & II


Ms. Tanaka attended Pitzer College where she majored in Biology and English & World Literature. She completed her Master's in Education from Claremont Graduate University. She recently moved from Los Angeles where she taught 9th and 10th grade biology. Before teaching, she worked in a vaccine lab, working with tobacco plants.


Ms Tanaka considers herself a huge science nerd who loves to read and play board games.

Mr. Bhatt

Subjects: Chemistry, AP Chemistry


Mr. Bhatt was raised in Piscataway (central) New Jersey.  He earned his B.S.E in Materials Sciences and Engineeringfrom the  University of Michigan. He worked for two years at a software company in Princeton, NJ. before coming to Wallenberg in 2014. 


Mr. Bhatt enjoys coaching sports, playing tennis, playing and listening to music, traveling and trying the "new" best burrito in town

Ms. Ali

Subjects: Biology


Ms. Ali grew up in the Fiji Islands. She earned a Bachelor of Science and Graduate Certificate in Education from University of the South Pacific with double majors in Chemistry and Biology and a graduates certificate in Teacher Education.  She taught chemistry and biology for 6 years to high school students in the International Baccalaureate Curriculum at an International school in Fiji. She has also taught physics and math to middle school students.


In her free time, Ms. Ali likes to rest, relax, watch TV series, travel and explore new places.  At home in Fiji she likes to relax at outer islands and do activities like swimming, snorkeling, kayaking and playing volley ball with friends.

Mr. Paul Borst

Subjects: Physics and Chemistry


Mr. Borst grew up in Greene, New York. He attended Alfred University for his undergraduate degree and Albany University for graduate school and served in the US Navy after college. This is Mr. Borst's seventh year of teaching.


In his free time, Mr. Borst enjoys reading math and science books, watch YouTube videos and play RPGs (role playing games).

Ms. Katrina Cubilo

Subjects: Health, College & Career


Ms. Cubilo was born and raised in San Francisco, in the Filmore/Western Addition.  She earned her BA from New York University and is getting getting her credential/masters from Brandman University. After undergraduate studies, she was part owner/operator of a Preschool and Childcare for three years while she worked toward her teaching credential. This is her first year at Wallenberg.


When she is not teaching, she likes to run, hike, or swim with her dog and fiance. She also loves reading, playing board games with friends, and making things. Right she is learning how to work on cars and is going to rebuild a motorcycle.
